Bruce Johnston Rules?
I've never had a very strong opinion of Bruce Johnston, one way or the other. As far as I was concerned, he was kind of just there in the Beach Boys, neither good nor bad. Recently, I bought this album, which I had never heard of, seen or listened to. About half of the record is just about what you'd expect: decent, but average Beach Boy style surf tunes with passable vocals. The rest is certainly NOT what you'd expect. I couldn't believe my ears...

The Rocky Fellers sing "Little Darling"
Everybody's favorite Filipino kiddy rock band is back, this time on the Dinah Shore Show.
There was once a video of Maurice Williams performing the song (which he composed for his first group, the Gladiolas) here, but, like so many You Tube videos, it was taken down. C'est la guerre.

Century 21 Exposition postcard record.
A friend brought this back to me from a trip to Seattle. Regrettably, he went there in the actual 21st century and not the imagined 21st century of the 1962 World's Fair. I don't know how much twistin' went on there during the fair, but after it was over, The Gayway, a small amusement park, was renamed "The Fun Forest". Word has it that The Fun Forest either has already been or will soon be torn down to make a parking lot. Way to be the exact opposite of "fun" and "forest", Seattle.
Click here to dance the Gayway Twist!
